Holly Park – South Suburban’s Permanent Art on Loan

by | Art in the City

The South Suburban Parks and Recreation District recognizes that works of art may reflect community and cultural values for current and future generations. A citizens committee, known as the South Suburban Public Art Committee (SSPAC) is a body that offers an informed professional  opinion to elected  South Suburban Board of Directors regarding art in public places. The committee includes representatives from cities of Littleton, Lone Tree, Centennial, Sheridan, Columbia Valley and Bow Mar. The Public Art Committee makes recommendations regarding temporary art exhibits at the District’s Recreation Centers. In addition, the PAC selects sculptors from Colorado artists for the Permanent Art On Loan program. Recently, the SSPAC announced the winner of the Permanent Art On Loan to Evan Beloni, a Denver based artist. The sculpture is known as “Dichrolions,” and consists of ten stainless steel rings inset with dichroic elements mounted on bent steel poles of various heights. Evan Beloni’s art utilizes dichroic materials that project and reflect different colors depending on the angle of light. Holly Park in Centennial was chosen as the perfect location for this unique sculpture.
