Big Dry Creek Under Arapahoe Road

After an extensive process, the citizens of Centennial participated in selecting Katie Curcio’s submission for the expansive mural under the Arapahoe Bridge along the Big Dry Creek Trail.

The Centennial Arts and Cultural Foundation is proud to bring the citizens of Centennial the first public mural in Centennial! CACF is grateful for the support from ting as our primary sponsor, Centennial’s City Council and Centennial’s Public Works Department for including the opportunity for this mural in the design of the newly constructed bridge.

Artist’s Statement of Inspiration:

In my mural design, I aim to capture the serene beauty of the mountains on the horizon of Centennial. These mountains, reflected in a tranquil body of water, symbolize the grandeur of nature and its profound stillness and capacity for reflection. The three sandhill cranes soaring across the scene serve as a symbol of endurance and the cycles of nature. These majestic birds visit our area during their migratory journeys, connecting our community to a broader natural world. This highlights the balance of our local ecosystem and the importance of preserving such environments. The vivid colors and dynamic composition invite onlookers to pause and immerse themselves in the scene, fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds us and the wildlife that shares our home. The mural serves as a tribute to the natural wonders and wildlife that define our region.
